Create Devices

This page describes how to create a single device. If you need to add many devices at once, use the bulk import.

Before creating a device, the matching device master data should exist — in particular a device model and its device manufacturer. You maintain these under Master Data > Devices.

  • A device manufacturer is the company that builds the device.
  • A device model describes a device type from a manufacturer (e.g. “AMR-500” from “RoboTech”). Multiple devices can use the same model and inherit its documentation.
  1. Navigate to Devices in the sidebar
  2. Click Create Device
  3. Fill in the device details:
    • Name (required) — A human-readable name for the device
    • Deployment (required) — Which site this device belongs to
    • Serial Number — The manufacturer’s serial number (also used for receiving device data)
    • Device Model — Select from existing models (or create one first in master data)
    • Description — Additional notes about the device
  4. Click Save to create the device

If you need to create many devices at once, our support team handles the bulk import for you:

  1. Contact our support at support@waku-robotics.com and ask for access to a mass-import file.
  2. You receive a file in which you can define all devices in a single file — one row per device.
  3. Fill in the file with your device data and send it back.
  4. Support imports the devices into your workspace for you.

Files attached to a device model (manuals, datasheets, safety notices) are automatically available on every device that uses that model. Maintain this documentation once on the model instead of per device. See Master Data > Devices.
