Strategies

A Strategy defines rules for automatically generating work orders at fixed time intervals — regardless of whether the device has been used. Instead of manually creating work orders every time maintenance is due, you configure a Strategy and WAKU Care handles the scheduling for you.

Why use Strategies?

• Never miss maintenance — Work orders are created automatically based on your rules
• Reduce manual effort — No need to remember or manually schedule recurring work
• Consistent scheduling — Intervals are applied uniformly across devices

When to use Strategies

Whenever maintenance is time-dependent rather than driven by actual load:

• Regular cleaning
• Safety and compliance inspections
• Calibrations at fixed intervals
• Lubrication or replacement of wear parts on a calendar basis

Example scenarios:

• Monthly cleaning of all robots in a warehouse
• Quarterly safety inspection of production equipment
• Annual calibration of sensors

Note

For usage-based or anomaly-based automation — triggered by device usage metrics or abnormal device data, rather than a fixed interval — use a Device Data Trigger instead of a Strategy.

How Strategies work

A Strategy connects three things:

1. Devices — Which devices this strategy applies to
2. Schedule — A fixed interval for when work orders should be created
3. Work Template — What tasks should be included in the generated work orders

When the schedule is due, WAKU Care automatically creates a work order for the relevant devices, pre-loaded with tasks from the specified Work Template.

Configuration

Each strategy includes:

• Title and description — What this strategy covers
• Deployment — Which site this strategy applies to
• Devices — The specific devices covered
• Interval — How often work orders should be created (e.g. every 30 days, every 3 months)
• Duration — Expected duration for the generated work orders
• Assignee — Who should be assigned to generated work orders
• Tags — Maintenance Tags applied to generated work orders
• Active/Inactive — Toggle whether the strategy is currently generating work orders

Practical tips

• Attach a suitable work template so every generated order contains the right steps.
• Combine baseline scheduled maintenance with a usage-based Device Data Trigger for heavily used devices.

Tip

Start a strategy in inactive mode to verify the configuration. Once you’re satisfied, activate it to start generating work orders.
